The Aftermath
Rachael Morgan arrives in the ruins of Hamburg in the bitter winter of 1946 to be reunited with her husband Lewis, a British colonel in charge of rebuilding the city. As they set off to their new home Rachael is astonished to find out that Lewis has decided that they will be sharing the great house with the previous owners, a German widower, and his anxious daughter. Living in a charged atmosphere of enmity and grief soon gives way to passion and betrayal.
